The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is in force in the European Union. The regulation applies to absolutely all persons in the European Union, and also to persons who process personal data of persons located in the European Union (all persons, not just EU citizens), and the rules also apply when a company processes data of non-EU persons who are not EU citizens, but the company itself is located in the EU.
The Regulation sets out a large number of obligations to be fulfilled in each case where personal data are processed, and personal data is absolutely everything related to an identifiable person, including telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, a description of the habits can be personal data. The employees of the company are also natural persons whose data are protected, respectively - if you have employees, you are already subject to certain provisions of the Regulation on data processing.
Penalties for infringements of the regulation can amount to EUR 20 million or 4% of the group's turnover in the previous year, whichever is higher.
